R.A.D. ("Respect and Discipline") After-school Program
The R.A.D. program is designed to teach kids respect and discipline through the
use of martial arts. The kids will learn the basic Taekwondo curriculum, which
focuses on proper kicking techniques, blocks and punches. They will also learn
how to focus (an important skill which transfers to their ability to do
schoolwork), how to set and achieve goals (a skill which well serve them well in
numerous areas throughout their lives, teaching them the value of never giving
up), and how to develop better coordination. In addition, they will learn how
to defend themselves, as R.A.D. will give them the confidence they need to deal
with the bullies who are, unfortunately, a major issue in schools today.
R.A.D.'s Innovative "3 C" Approach:
In our quest to teach kids respect and discipline through Taekwondo, we have
developed the "3 C" approach:
Confidence
Developing the ability to stand up to bullying through the use of
verbal communication.
Courage
Learning to report bullying to the proper authority with confidence.
Character
Learning and understanding that their martial arts skills are to be
used for defense, not for bullying.
